Pop Superstar To Perform ONE LAST TIME! In Salt Lake City On April 20
Public Can Trade a New or Gently Used Musical Instrument for Free Tickets to Manilow’s ONE LAST TIME! Concert
[Salt Lake City, UT] – Legendary singer-songwriter Barry Manilow is “hitting the road” ONE LAST TIME! and hopes others will follow his philanthropic lead as he donates a Yamaha piano to launch a local instrument drive during his ONE LAST TIME! Tour for the Salt Lake City School District. Anyone who donates a new or gently used musical instrument to Maverik Center Box Office will receive two free tickets (valid for pre-selected seat locations) for Manilow’s April 20 concert in Salt Lake City, UT.
“I know firsthand how invaluable music education is,” said Manilow. “It is a privilege for me to help bring the gift of music to these kids,” he continued.
Maverik Center Box Office will be the base for the instrument drive in Salt Lake City, from now through April 20, 2015. The instrument drop off location at the Maverik Center Box Office is open between Mon-Fri 10:00am-5:00pm. The public may also drop off an instrument at any of the three Summerhays Music Store locations and receive a voucher for two complimentary tickets that can be exchanged at the Maverik Center Box Office the night of the concert.
“While so many people think education should focus on only math, science, and reading, national research continues to show the academic advantage of a well rounded education, which includes instruction in fine arts,” said Dr. McKell Withers, Superintendent of the Salt Lake City School District. “Musical instruments in a classroom are a great way to introduce students to the performing arts. The lack of proactive arts oriented funding continues to be a significant challenge in our public schools. We are extremely grateful for the assistance of the Manilow Music Project in supporting the students of Salt Lake City and this thoughtful investment in the community.”
The Manilow Music Project (MMP) is part of The Manilow Fund for Health and Hope. Its primary focus is to provide musical instruments to high schools and middle schools and to provide music scholarships at universities throughout the US, Canada, and the UK.
